If the goal isn't clear, how will you know if you can achieve it?
The first step in achieving a goal is to have a clearly understood purpose.
Corti Designworks helps you to explore and clearly define your overall goals, and target specific requirements to improve your projects. We do this from the start of your project and throughout the development process by working with you to keep your copy, features, emphasis and style on target with your user's needs, and your business requirements. During the entire development cycle, our collective teams will constantly revisit and explore the following seemingly simple questions:
- What does your business require and expect from the project (site or marketing materials)?
- Do you have a clear understanding of why users will come to the site or use your marketing materials?
- What do your users expect to find when they get there? Consider that the answer to this question might not be the same as the PR, technical, business or other groups expect.
- How can site features be designed to best support the user's search for information? For example: would your user prefer a drop down list of states or a selection map?
These questions sound simple, but when you actually put your answers in writing and reevaluate, it's amazing how quickly the focus can alter.

Things to consider:
When planning a project, be it a website or a set of marketing materials, list all potential opportunities and contributing return on investment (ROI) factors, for example:
- Eliminate paper workflow processes
- Speed-up workflow tasks
- Reduce waiting time
- Speak for your company
- Speak about your company
- Speak about your products & services
- Brand your company and products
- Take orders
- Gather valuable marketing information
A multitude of web-focused processes and workflow realignment goals exist in every business, but above all remember you must think like a user and engage users early and often in routine test/evaluation efforts.
