Audio is fast becoming an integral part of websites. When carefully and appropriately used, it can be a powerful and effective way to take a website beyond just information delivery and make it become an engaging and immersive experience. Today however, many sites gratuitously add pre-packaged "canned" music and sounds that are included in some software packages, or downloaded from the web, resulting in at best a generic and uninspired effect, and at worst an annoying experience that will make visitors leave the site.
